Title: Director, Market & Competitive Intelligence
Location: Wellesley, MA
Summary: Newly created role in the Market and Competitive Intelligence department of the Marketing Division which will lead competitive primary and secondary research for the Life Insurance division, as well as direct thought leadership more broadly to impact strategic trend analysis across SLF U.S. businesses The primary job responsibilities include:§ Directs market and competitive intelligence efforts to support US Life Insurance strategy, product development, distribution, and marketing efforts§ Designs and develops Life Insurance competitive analyses through in-depth review and synthesis of secondary sources§ Leads primary research and thought leadership projects to further Sun Lifes base of proprietary Life Insurance knowledge; provides advisory support for Annuities and EBG primary research efforts§ Builds and cultivates relationships with internal leadership, strategy, product, distribution, and marketing organization for Life Insurance; develops alliance with external research partners and industry organizations§ Thinks strategically; independently leads the development of innovative process, procedures, and tools to anticipate and address emerging business trends Qualifications§ Bachelors degree in related field required; professional designations and Masters or PhD preferred; position requires deep technical expertise encompassing a variety of disciplines§ Ability to think strategically and implement tactical steps for qualitative and quantitative research. Requires analytical, interpretative, evaluative, and/or constructive thinking. Ability to identify best practices and craft solutions to broader issues§ Requires in depth knowledge of the US Individual Life Insurance Marketplace; minimum 5-7 years of experience in competitive intelligence or market research role. Typically recognized within the company as an expert in the field with in-depth knowledge of product, strategy, and marketing§ Minimum 5 years of primary research experience, including a solid understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods§ A solid statistical background; working knowledge of multivariate analyses and data modeling experience a plus§ Broad Life insurance industry contacts; strong networking skills§ Strong influencing and relationship building skills§ Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation skills
