Title: Competitive Intelligence Research Analyst
Location: Dayton, OH
Summary:
Conducts all manner of competitive intelligence research and analysis activities. Works with Chief Business Development Officer, Directors, Managers and legal practice groups to assess business development and competitive market information needs and to create deliverables which will enhance business development, client retention activities and firm best practices. Specifically, employee leads the competitive intelligence initiative to monitor, understand, and quantify competitors’ and others’ strategies, results, and expected future actions. Employee serves as the project manager for collection and synthesis of qualitative & quantitative competitive data, structured and unstructured, and delivers intelligence in support of high-priority management decisions and/or defined key information topics.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
Research Deliverables:
§ Researches and analyzes activities of existing and potential clients, competitors and other industries, both professional services and others; prepares company and industry profiles for various uses, including the identification of best practices for the firm as well as information useful for client pitches.
§ Develops client target lists based on research and analysis of markets and industries.
§ Provides intelligence to enhance responses to RFPs.
§ Maintains a high level of understanding of the latest research methods/resources.
§ Tracks results and utilization of research efforts.
Needs Assessment and Strategic Planning
§ Works with management to define competitive intelligence information needs.
§ Works with Directors identify initiatives and projects to achieve strategic goals.
§ Continually assesses legal and other marketplaces to identify and synthesize intelligence in support of client development, client service and strategically support firm objectives.
Staff Management and Teamwork
§ Leads and directly supports initiatives across offices and departments.
§ Contributes to a positive and collaborative work environment.
§ Demonstrates excellent mentoring skills to develop staff competencies.
§ Develops “best practice” models to enable other support staff and lawyers to quickly and effectively retrieve necessary information.
§ Supports other business development initiatives as assigned.
§ Contributes to the firm's Service Excellence initiative to consistently improve its image internally and externally. Displays professionalism, quality service and a "can do" attitude to internal members/departments of the firm as well as external clients and vendors via electronic and print correspondence, over the telephone and in-person.
