Title: Assistant Product Manager, Competitive IntelligenceI

Location: Woodland Hills, CA

This position reports to the AVP of Product Management and is a key contributor to product development work flow and sales support, with an emphasis on competitive intelligence gathering and reporting. This position also provides project support for company-wide initiatives which rely heavily on competitive research. Primary responsibilities are to analyze competitors? products and features, web sites, and illustrative capabilities. In addition, this position is responsible for monitoring industry reporting services and creating timely and comprehensive competitive intelligence to senior management, internal and external sales and other audiences as needed. Competitive Research / Analysis: • Research and manage on-going competitive intelligence • Timely update of department competitive information grids, reports and databases • Produce accurate and useful competitive resources/documentation • Maintain a strong understanding of competitor products and positioning • Keep current on all key competitor SEC filings and product/feature introductions • Distribute key competitive updates and manage competitor database • Support Competitive Intelligence website updates, production and distributions • Provide support with wholesaler product training New Initiatives/ Product Development: • Provide competitive information and analysis as requested to support the development of new products and features Product Management and Sales Support: • Respond to inbound internal and external wholesaler questions and requests regarding product and competition • Respond to inbound questions from internal and external wholesalers and financial advisors regarding illustration system use and output reports. • Provide support for electronic sales tools updates and enhancements Position Requirements EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: • BA/BS in business administration, marketing, or related studies preferred • 2 ? 4 years of product marketing, or sales experience in the financial service industry KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proven experience in presenting ideas to key contributors throughout an organization • Strong analytical skills (attention to detail, ability to create detailed reports and run analyses) • Ability to visualize and/or contribute to the presentation of an idea or project (from concept and design to presentation) • Strong project management, organization and follow up skills • Variable annuity experience (preferably in sales, marketing, or project management capacity) • Experience with illustration reports and, or systems • Demonstrated success in presenting new ideas ? Industry knowledge (understand sales, distribution, and regulatory matters) • Excellent MS office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access) skills • Ability to foster effective working relationships with peers and supervisors within and across organizational lines • Ability to quickly adapt and adjust to change • Results rather than task orientation
