Title: Competitive Intelligence Specialist
Location: Durham, NC
The Competitive Intelligence Specialist will examine competitive strategies in the wireless and smartphone industry. Responsibilities include:
* Building a current awareness of the competitive environment and developing insights relating to competitor capabilities and intentions.
* Developing scenario based analysis, competitive product and feature benchmarks for planning and sell-in purposes
* Creating technical roadmap presentations and forecasts of feature trends
* Creating competitor profiles including strategy, technology, and financials analysis
* Ability to extrapolate future trends from current information
* Demonstrate advanced knowledge and capability through performing reverse engineering of mobile phones to discover how competitor’s are working, re-using and performing technically
* Assist in the preparation of an unbiased view of the competitive landscape based on an in-depth understanding and analysis of competitive information. Monitors for changes in competitive and market dynamics.
* Proactively communicates and teams with business units and R&D to leverage existing information ensuring competitor, market, and customer information is broadly communicated, understood, and acted upon.
Requirements:
* BA/BS in engineering (preferred), finance, economics, marketing, or related field
* Competence in competitive intelligence, market research, or industry analytics
* Understanding of and general ability to explain and analyze qualitative and quantitative information, identifying implications and observing patterns, making correct inferences, drawing conclusions, explaining facts, data, or information to evaluate competitors' products/services, strategic direction, and core competencies utilizing a wide variety of resources
* Understanding of global and local market pressures and business planning
* Experience in electronics or wireless is required and an affinity for mobile phones or background in the industry
* Strong computing skills required; competence with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
* Excellent written and communication presentation skills
