Title: Competitive Intelligence Manager
Location: New York, NY
Scope of Position:
* Manage the global competitive intelligence (CI) processes for CET
* Perform in-depth analysis of existing, emerging and new competitors and competitive threats
* Deliver proactive and actionable competitive data, analysis and recommendations to drive
both operational and strategic decision making.
* Work with cross functional teams to integrate CI into decision making processes based on
ongoing tracking and analysis of competitive threats.
* Promote consistent worldwide understanding of competitors and implications on market
dynamics
Day to Day Responsibilities:
* Develop and manage a competitive intelligence process aligned with business needs with
defined inputs, analysis, and outputs
* Monitor and track existing, emerging and new competitors and competitive threats
* Primary and secondary research and data gathering process (internal & external resources)
* Routine triangulation for validity, seriousness, and need for action
* Identification, selection and management of external and internal consultants for specific
project areas
* Network of global internal & external industry contacts to perform field/fact-based analysis
* Conference attendance and coordination of intelligence gathering by Corning attendees
* Management of competitive benchmarking program
* Deliver competitive analysis and recommendations and maintain key analytical models and
tools
* Centralized data collection and warehousing system
* Competitor profiles - strategy, capability, financials, IP position
* Cost and capacity
* Pricing
* Product and technology performance, attribute, and system functionality comparison and
maps
* Strategic watch list with threat assessment and quantification & Corning portfolio gaps
* CI culture within commercial teams to support CI data gathering
* Counterintelligence training and management of information security
* Deconstruct competitor product positioning and work with product line managers to integrate
into value proposition development and execution
* Independently prepare and deliver reports and presentations to communicate analytical
results and implications to business and commercial leaders, regional teams, and internal
functional forums
* Participate on and/or lead cross-functional teams to integrate CI into decision making
processes
