Title: Market Intelligence - Research Analyst

Summary: Vertex Inc. is looking for a Market Intelligence/Research Analyst to provide developmental, research and analytical support in the creation of a market intelligence system which tracks and analyzes customer, market, economic, competitive, legislative, technology and partner trends and translates the impact they will have on Vertex. You will be responsible for executing annual surveys including Annual Customer Satisfaction surveys and Annual Conference Evaluation surveys, as well as, assisting the Market Research Manager in strategic primary market research projects.In this role, you will assume responsibility for: o Interfaces with information service providers and scans, gathers and maintains information in the following areas of focus; o Direct competitorso Market and industry trendso Political/regulatory, economic, social, technologicalo Partners and Allianceso Maintains a central repository of market intelligence data and information and partner and alliance relationship data an information o 3Understands and applies the principles of market intelligence processes and practices and assists Market Intelligence Leader in implementing Market Intelligence initiatives.o Assists in developing and maintaining a HUMINT network at Vertex and in distribution of Market Intelligence products (e.g. Intelligence alerts, bi-weekly newsbrief, quarterly newsletter). o Understands and analyzes the internal inquiries for market information. Supports product management activities using appropriate secondary research or intelligence service providers and interfaces with industry analysts in support of intelligence activities (e.g., Forrester, Garner, IDC, etc). Evaluates their performance and service fees on an annual basis.Independently coordinates and executes primary customer research projects (qualitative and quantitative) in support of proprietary information requests. Takes ownership of projects and keeps management appraised of project status and problem resolution through the project recruiting, fielding, data analysis and report writing phases.o Uses market evaluation tools (e.g. Market insight, Hoovers, D&B resources, etc.) to assist product managers with opportunity assessments and workplans.o Develops internal information sources (ie; Vertex skills, competency centers, knowledge, financial performance requirements)o Kept abreast with the latest intelligence analytical tools and techniques, and share with or educate the organization with the knowledge as needed
