Title: Market Development Manager, Market Insights and Research
Location: Frederick, MD
Summary: Develop marketing and brand strategies drawn from customer insights obtained through primary and secondary data and deliver insights to drive actionable marketing and customer strategies that grow the business, transform the customer experience, and increase loyalty to the brand. This position is an integral part of the Marketing team and anticipates, informs, and inspires better business and marketing decisions.
Essential Functions:
Market Research
Develop the market research strategy for the business unit
Design qualitative and quantitative research plans for products, markets and competitors
Select the most appropriate research methodology and techniques
Conduct in-depth data analyses using traditional and advanced methods
Segmentation
Create customer segmentation frameworks for each global region using market research
Define segments and create customer portraits based on needs and behaviors within each segment
Assign existing customers to segments using data mining techniques that predict behavioral trends within the customer segmentation based upon Siebel and E1 profile and transactional data
Partner with CRM team to modify existing profiling and data capture fields to reflect new customer segments to better predict new customer behavior
Develop and test messaging to address each customer segment, focusing on customer acquisition and retention strategies
Marketing Strategy and Tactical Execution
Craft customer loyalty strategies using existing and new programs. Track metrics and report effectiveness. Pilot innovative loyalty programs.
Determine the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and channels. Create profitability analysis and ROI/Economic Value modeling for single initiatives as well as periodic roll-ups. Drive the creation of best practices that arise from the analytics.
Growth in Emerging Markets
Shape / champion new directions in emerging markets by synthesizing & analyzing data to identify future directions of technology and future customer needs.
Evaluate potential new business opportunities and formulate recommendations based on known risks and rewards.
Requirements:
Strong analytic and critical thinking skills
Exceptional written, oral, and presentation communication abilities
Expertise with Excel, PowerPoint, and SPSS/SAS
Bachelors or advanced degree in business, mathematics, or the sciences
Prefer a Masters degree and demonstrated success (2+ years) in conducting actionable market research that grows the business, transforms the customer experience, and increases brand loyalty.
