Title: Manager of Market Research

Location: Emeryville, CA

Summary: The Manager of Market Research is accountable for gathering, assimilating, analyzing and presenting timely, relevant consumer/competitive intelligence and strategic market assessments to enable informed decisions regarding Clif Bar & Company strategies and product development. Based on results of research, the incumbent develops and presents recommendations for strategic business responses to such matters as changing conditions in the marketplace, trends in consumer preferences, competitor information and risks and opportunities for developing potential new markets, merchandising and product concepts/products. The Manager works with other members of the marketing teams to develop research goals and objectives, and conducts or manages the execution of research projects. Principal Accountabilities: * Collaborate with the EVP of Marketing and other members marketing team to identify needs and opportunities for gathering consumer and market intelligence, in line with overall company business strategies. Develop and recommend integrated market research strategies, annual plans and budgets and execute or manage their execution. * Perform market analysis using Nielsen data and other external resources to include monthly consumer reporting and annual market analyses for Clif Bar & Company products and competitive set. * Lead development and execution of annual research including panel data, AAU, tracking studies and others as required. * Identify, assess and recommend actions in response to threats to brand position/equity, and identify opportunities to strengthen consumer and distributor perception of Clif Bar & Company and to develop new product and brand concepts that will enhance market share. * Capture and synthesize learnings from internal and external market research and work with the EVP of Marketing, brand teams, and product research and development to incorporate intelligence on trends into development of brand strategies that effectively maintain or improve brand awareness, perceived brand equity and usefulness, and positive brand associations over time. * Provide research and analytical support to the development of new products including both concept and product testing. Assess consumer trends, direct market research efforts to project potential magnitude of opportunities, and provide concepts to research and development for creation of new products. * Find solutions to creatively incorporate consumer learning from consumer services, social media interactions and web connections.
